How to make money sexting.

Last year, nestled among the hundreds of profiles on Arousr — a website for sexting and phone-sex — was one for a 25-year-old brunette named Carmen. She had just moved to a new city — “I’m renting the coolest apartment,” she wrote — and because she didn’t know many people, she had “all kinds of time for dirty sexts and [to] share sexy pictures” with you.  

In her profile, Carmen flexed her creative writing chops and described a litany of erotic scenarios that she’d love to sext with you about — “I’ve got a pretty good imagination, but it’s a lot more fun to kick around ideas with someone else.”

Her sales pitch ended with a cleverly phrased plea to come rescue her from her boredom. “I need a bit of a distraction. Would that be you? Text me. It’s not nice to keep a lady waiting.”

Carmen has since edited her profile to something more staid, but she’s still working for Arousr, earning several thousand dollars a month for the last three years, solely through sending naughty text messages.

She’s now a 5-star rated girl on Arousr who receives satisfied reviews from customers not just because she’s hot, but because she’s a compelling texter. “Five stars not enough….10!!!” a user named Huung wrote in a review of her sexting prowess. “Takes me to new heights every time.”

Because we, too, believe that crafting the perfect sext is an art, OK Whatever got in touch with Carmen to learn more about her job and how to seduce others with a mere text.

Hey, Carmen. So how did you first learn about Arousr?

I first learned about Arousr from a messageboard when I was looking for work-at-home opportunities in 2015. A woman named Linda was looking for experienced girls to join their team, and I simply sent her a message and heard back from her quickly.

After hearing back from Linda, she directed me to an online application which you can find on Arousr.com. I had to send a picture in with that application. She then called me on the phone and talked to me about the position. After that, she had me add her on Skype for a mock sexting session where she portrayed a guy texting in to chat with me. I responded as I would if it were a real customer so she could gauge how my responses would be. After that, she helped me set up my profile for the site so I could log-in and start answering texts.

What is a typical day for you on Arousr like?

Carmen: A typical day for me is waking up in the morning, grabbing a cup of coffee, hopping back into bed, and logging into Arousr. On Arousr, you have the option to do sexting, phone-sex, or video chatting. Since I enjoy writing and the written word most, I just stick with that.

Then I sit there and wait for guys (or girls) to send me a text. So when a guy asks what I’m doing, it’s usually the truth when I tell him I’m in bed and barely dressed! I usually will stay logged-in for anywhere from two to five hours before logging-out for a break, and I’ll get up and walk around, get something to eat, and log back in.

On average, I generally spend six hours a day sexting, but I have logged up to 10 hours in a day. There are times when I have a busy day for whatever reason and may only log-in for an hour or two. It’s totally up to me when I log-in.

When you’re online, how many customers do you get on average per day?

How many people I sext varies, but it’s not uncommon for me to be texting a few people at one time. Even up to five or more, but it’s just as common that I’ve got one person texting and he has my undivided attention. Depending on how busy it is and how long I stay logged-in, I could have texted 10 to 20-plus people in a day.

So how much bank do you make through Arousr?

I’d rather not give an actual number, but it’s worth it! If you put the time in there is money to be made. For me, I am making what I could be making working a part-time job outside of the home, except I don’t have to leave my house and have no work expenses. In one week, I earn in the three-digits, but I know that some girls make four-digit amounts.

The users can also send the Arousr girls tips at any time during the chat. I’ve received pretty good tips at times from guys just saying thank you for a great chat.  

Aside from the money, why do you like your job?

I have a lot of fun doing it. I chat with so many people that are extremely nice, fun, funny, interesting, and, let’s not forget, horny. I’ve always been a very sexual person who has a dirty mind and loves talking about sex.

Plus, I have always enjoyed writing, even from a young age.  I used to enjoy writing stories and poems. I have actually thought it would be cool to write a book someday, but I wouldn’t know where to begin with that. It may be something I might try at some point in my life though.

Why do you think you are well-suited to be a professional sexter?

Well, overall, I feel that my creativity is decent. I try to put my all into it and really imagine that I am in the scenario the user is texting about and to answer how I might answer if I were actually with him in that moment.

What do you talk about with your customers? Do you reveal anything about your personal life?

I am completely myself when I am texting. My personality is my own — I don’t try to fake it and be what I think they might be looking for. I like to joke around at times, and I can also be a little sarcastic. I definitely discuss my interests and hobbies, and I may text about things I’m up to in my real life as far as maybe going to a concert or hanging out with friends.

I don’t give my exact location. Most of them ask for it, and some press it a little more. I’ll say what state I’m in, and I’ve given the name of a large city that’s semi close, but I don’t feel comfortable with saying any more than that.

Do you send photos of yourself to the people you chat with?

Yep! I do send photos and most are explicit. Users can also request certain types of pictures, and if it’s something I don’t already have pictures of, I can take some per their request. Those users will usually send a tip for doing so.

Since you send pictures, are you worried anyone on the street will recognize you?

No. While I show off my body, I don’t know any of the people I talk to and the chances I will ever come face-to-face in public with one of them is very slim. It’s a big world. A lot of the guys that text are from the States, but a good portion are also from Canada and the UK. I’ve had some from Australia and South Africa, as well.

What are some trends you’ve noticed with the people you sext?

Most users always want to text about the same fantasy every time they text you, but there are some that change things up a bit and want to text about something different every time. There are also plenty of guys that text you just to chat, and sex is never discussed. I love chats like that.

Have you dealt with fetish requests that you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with?

I’ve had my share of strange conversations, but I don’t judge people. I know that there is a reason why someone would have a fetish that others may think is weird, and I just try to think about that and be understanding.

So far, the hardest fetish for me has been giantess fetish. A user texted me wanting to fantasy chat about that and I hadn’t ever dealt with it before. I think I had heard about it, but I didn’t know what kind of things they enjoyed texting about while I was portraying a giant woman. We did chat for a while though and he helped me along.

I’m also a submissive type of person in real life, so I find domination hard. It’s just not my personality. But I still do those chats, and sometimes I’m great at them in regards to how that customer wants to be dominated.

But if it’s a day where I’m not feeling it, I’d rather tell the customer that I’m not real good at it, and maybe he might like to look around and find a girl who has that listed in her profile, since mine doesn’t mention it. I’m all about having the customer enjoy his session rather than being greedy and wanting to keep him for myself. I don’t want to take the chance that I do a terrible job at it and he doesn’t enjoy it.
